TO HELL AND BACK IN 24 HOURS

Left Sandton for a 963 km trip to Beaufort West on tar road the whole way at 130 kmph. Louis Trichard to Sandton was 418 km. Stayed at the International Police Association's house which was R100 and had a big room in a large house with no one else.Went to 4 Sheep Restaurant and had me a sheep's neck with mash , was delicious.

Took off at 8am for The Hell. Was 3 degrees Celsius and at 130 kmph it is cold. Went towards Oudtshoorn for 90 km and then a dirt road to Prince Albert where I had a cup of tea.
Then up the Swartberg Pass and down into Die Hell. Absolutely an incredible ride down into the valley , especially on a bike as you can see by the pictures it is spectacular. Got a caravan for the night and was the only one in the campsite because school starts tomorrow, thank goodness.
Had my first braai and ended up dropping the bloody boerewors in the fire , but dug it out and rinsed it off and ate it. Guess my braaing skills are as rusty as the grid was , but the mutton chops were outstanding, for my last supper on the road , it was a great way to celebrate it in Die Hell, left the best for last.

My final day arrived. I left and got out from the camp to the signpost on Swartberg Pass in 52 minutes , which was silly cause I was pushing my luck , but man it was a fun ride out. Dropped down the Swartberg and took a long dirt road to Calitzdorp all alongside the mountains and farms , it was a real good dirt road and no one on it. I then went to Seweweekspoort and rode through to Gamkaskloof Dam , which is bone dry. You ride through the mountains on basically a winding flat road and the rock formations and colors are mind-boggling beautiful. Was about 150 km on dirt to Lansbury and back on the N1 to Cape Town which is about 175 km away. So gunned it home through the Hex River Valley and Bain's Kloof Tunnel arriving at 5pm just in time for the traffic jams of Cape Town.
577km. And a great way to end the trip on a classic route like that , worked out great with a total of 20 391 km. travelled all safe and sound and feel real fortunate that luck was on my side and had an incident free journey , unlike 4 other unfortunate riders.
