LAKE MALAWI ROUTE: MAKUZI BEACH CAMP TO CAPE MACLEAR TO ZOMBA

Makuzi to Fat Monkeys 415 km.
Fat Monkeys to Zomba 194 km.

Makuzi was a great campsite on the beach , but last night it blew like crazy all night. The South African couple B and Justin had me over for a lekker stew , real meat with potatoes was excellent and had a great evening with the African's.
Left at 8am for Cape Mclear and made it through the sand without augering in , dropped off a chocolate for the kids that helped me the other day get unpainted .
Not much traffic on the road , but a continuous stream of people walking on the road and cyclists and goats galore. Had the unfortunate luck of witnessing a small oncoming bus hit a goat fifty feet from me and then had to dodge the internal organs that were splattered on the road. The M5, main road down all the way is very narrow with no shoulder , but at least the Malawian's don't have speed bumps so going through the towns is a lot faster and easier than the rest of East Africa.
Got to Fat Monkeys at 3pm and met Andy , who is on 4 year trip on a 1200 GS and has come down the West coast and is now going up the East coast to Europe. Inga from Belgium is riding pillion and we ended up having a fish braai and many beers , they sure could pound them down. Turns out they stayed at Alex and Evelyn 's orphanage in Malawi ,whom I had met in Katima and I am heading to the orphanage myself. Turns out Alex and his wife have come up here for two days , so we all feasted and had a great re - union. Went kayaking and snorkeling at the island and walked the whole beach , and was hustled the entire way .

Alex and I left Fat Monkeys today , but Andy and Inga remain there for who knows how long , it is real cheap to eat and sleep in Malawi , most locals , the lucky one's who have a job earn a $1.50a day. Camping is $5 - $7 a day and the fish was $2 for three people.

Only 194 km. to Zomba but the road is narrow and quite a few pot holes. Has gotten rather cooler as we are up at 1400 meters and I guess it's winter here as well.

Was going to go down Mozambique along the coast back to SA , but now Renato has stepped up their attacks and body is going down anymore , they attacked three Malawian petrol tankers and the police convoys. Will be a huge diversion to have to go through Zambia and down , so will have to decide shortly how to go. I think I could sneak through Tete to Zimbabwe, it's only like 450 km. and if I go fast and lay flat on my tank they won't see me.
