AUS TO SOLITAIRE DAY 6 - 460KM

Day 6:  Aus to Solitaire 460km 35 degree C

Up at 5:30 packed and went for coffee with Keith at restaurant and headed out at 8am. Headed towards  Helmeringhausen on C13 which was quiet narly in some places. Then took D707 which was a challenge, the sandy part, but made it through unscratched. Had 3 Orynx running on the road with me at 60 kmph and just missed a chameleon crossing the road. Got to Batt where I met up with 2 guys on a 1200 GS and a girl on a 800 GS. One guy one guy had just taken a tumble and was unconscious for 4 minutes but was otherwise fine. We all left there for Sesrier but they were doing 60 kmph so I passed them and it was a good road and able to do 120km. I finallycaught up to Keith and we headed to Solitaire. The bike is feeling good on the dirt and the roads were real fun today. Got to Solitaire  at 4 p.m. and camping with Keith  who is in a Pajero  with a roof top tent. Cook supper, have not eaten the whole day and forgot to fill up my water bottle for the first time and at 9 a.m. it was 30 Degrees C . My Banting diet is going well, I hardly eat. Solitaire is famous for its apple pie, which I did look at but not taste. Then 2 young guys pulled into the campsite on the 175 cc 1962 Czech bike and a German kid on a 250KTM and have come down Africa from Europe and heading to Cape Town. Tomorrow off to Swakopmund.

  1. I left camp before Roy and stopped alongside the road for breakfast when Roy rode past and did not stop I had his breakfast ready waiting for him so ungrateful these BMW riders. Anyway I notice that Roy did not mention that I actually got to Beta before him (maybe he was sleeping in a bush )?? I then caught up to Roy in Sesriem where he was chatting a couple on there way to Zanzibar. I left before Roy and we had agreed to meet in Solitaire where I waited a further hour for him to arrive ? :-)
